The Kirkby Malzeard Charity Trust is a registered charity set up in 1974 to administer the consolidated charities of Kirkby Malzeard, Grewelthorpe, Azerley and Laverton which were already in existence. The body of 12 Trustees is made up of 3 from each area, one of whom is nominated by the appropriate Parish Council, the others co-opted from each area.

The Trust draws in money from investments and field rents, and distributes income (after maintenance costs) in accordance with a pre-set ratio to the Trustees representing each area. This money is then distributed, at each Trustee's discretion, to those residents identified as being in need and suffering hardship.

Trustees need to have special knowledge of their area, through residence, occupation, or otherwise. Beneficiaries must be resident in the area covered by the Trust.
